The Expectations remix puts Chappell Roan beside Rodrigo
The track gives Rodrigo a new version of a song from her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. Chappell Roan adds a feature to Expectations, while the accompanying video puts the two singers into a retro television setting. Rolling Stone calls it Rodrigo’s first-ever remix and describes the video as a retro game show. Pitchfork lists Expectations as a new track dated 16 October credited to Rodrigo and Roan.
David Byrne appears as the fictional host of the video, with Dan Nigro also involved on screen. Roan’s new verse gives the existing song a second vocal perspective, while Rodrigo remains the lead artist credit. The release keeps the collaboration centred on a song already connected to Rodrigo’s latest album.
Olivia Rodrigo’s pop writing reaches a third album
Biography describes Rodrigo as an American singer-songwriter and actress from California. Her public musical identity has developed alongside her acting work, but three studio albums define the recording catalogue used for this release.
