Simple Minds play Darker Waves Festival at Huntington Beach City Beach in Huntington Beach, California, on 14 November 2026. The one-day festival brings more than 35 artists together across three stages in a bill headlined by Morrissey and The Smashing Pumpkins.
Darker Waves gives Simple Minds a California festival date
Darker Waves returns to Huntington Beach as a single-day programme built around new-wave, post-punk and related rock acts. Simple Minds join the additional performers alongside Bad Religion, Adam Ant, The Psychedelic Furs, Soft Cell and Manic Street Preachers.
Live Nation’s festival announcement places the event at Huntington Street and Pacific Coast Highway. The band’s own Darker Waves announcement confirms the 14 November date and Huntington Beach setting.
Simple Minds fit the festival’s new-wave and rock bill
The California booking connects Simple Minds’ new-wave identity with a broad rock programme. Their place below the two named headliners gives the festival a clear distinction between the top of the bill and its wider supporting line-up.
The Huntington Beach setting also places the band in a programme that draws together established alternative acts and performers from adjacent strands of post-punk and synth-led music. That combination reflects the group’s long reach across rock and pop without reducing the day to one style.
Sacrosanct extends the Simple Minds schedule into 2027
The festival appearance comes ahead of the band’s next album cycle. Sacrosanct is due through BMG on 29 January 2027, while Beginner Boys has introduced the record’s new material.
The album outlook gives the California performance a place between current live work and the next phase of the group’s release programme. The November date remains a festival appearance rather than a headline show.
