The French Quarter hosts the Krewe of BOO! Halloween parade in New Orleans on 24 October 2026. The district, known locally by the same name, forms part of a public route that begins near Elysian Fields Avenue and ends in the Warehouse District.
The organiser has confirmed a 6.30pm start, while the parade is open to the public. Its Halloween-themed floats, marching groups and walking krewes will move through the historic district before continuing towards the Warehouse District.
Krewe of BOO! parade crosses French Quarter on 24 October
Krewe of BOO! is New Orleans' official Halloween parade, according to the organiser. The 24 October 2026 programme uses a Mardi Gras-style procession, with three-dimensional floats featuring Halloween characters and throws for people watching along the route.
The parade begins on Elysian Fields Avenue, travels to North Peters Street and then reaches Decatur Street. It passes Jackson Square before returning to North Peters Street, turning towards Canal Street and continuing to its finish on Andrew Higgins Drive. The organiser's parade details state that viewing is open to the public.
The event is separate from participation in the krewe. Riding requires membership, but the organiser says that public viewing is available along the route. This distinction gives visitors a way to experience the procession without joining the floats or marching groups.
Jackson Square connects the parade with the historic district
The route gives the event a direct relationship with the French Quarter rather than using the neighbourhood only as a backdrop. North Peters Street and Decatur Street carry the procession through the district, while Jackson Square provides a named historic point on the route.
The parade then leaves the district towards Canal Street and the Warehouse District. That sequence means the event links several parts of central New Orleans in one continuous procession, from its Elysian Fields start to its Andrew Higgins Drive finish. The New Orleans tourism report also describes the 24 October programme and its route through the district.
