Compared with Goal Zero's Yeti 200X, the 500X has more than double the battery capacity according to REI. The tradeoff is a 300W continuous AC ceiling, which is lower than the 500W output found on some same-capacity alternatives.

Best Fit And Limits

The Yeti 500X fits camping, vehicle travel, camera equipment, laptops, routers, small refrigerators, and selected low-wattage AC appliances. Its 60W USB-C PD port is suited to compatible laptops and tablets, while the 12V output supports DC equipment without an AC adapter.

The 300W continuous limit rules out high-draw appliances, heaters, kettles, and most power tools. The unit is also discontinued at REI, so its strongest case is access to a remaining unit at a documented price rather than a current mainstream lineup position.
